Dental braces

As well as giving you a more beautiful smile dental braces will improve your bite, chewing, and speech. Longer term, straighter teeth also mean healthier gums and teeth that are less prone to wear, tear and injury.

Typically, we offer three different types of fixed braces, made by 3M:

• Incognito
• Clarity
• Victory.

All the above braces are all equally effective, but your preference may come down to aesthetics and budget.

For patients with mild misalignments, Invisalign aligners may be a suitable option instead of braces.

Braces can be highly effective at any age, for repositioning teeth, not just for children and young adults.

Before recommending anything, we give you a full oral assessment to ensure that you have:

• healthy teeth, gums and bone structure, and
• the commitment to undertake a special cleaning routine three times a day whilst wearing braces (to keep your gums and teeth scrupulously clean).

We also provide full advice, timescales and costings ahead of you making any decision.

Dental braces comprise small individual brackets (metal, ceramic or clear) which are bonded to your teeth and threaded together by a wire.

Over the course of your treatment we adjust the tension on the wire to gradually move your teeth into the desired position.

Depending how quickly your teeth respond, the treatment could take 18-24 months. During that time, you will need to visit us every 6 to 8 weeks for checks and adjustments.

Once your treatment is complete you may need to wear an aligner at night, to maintain your new smile.
